Living Room Sophistication With Raw Silk
Sophistication in this living room was accomplished by employing several Interior Design techniques. The sofa was done in solid raw silk highlighted by carefully selected colors of silk throw pillows.
Utilizing the same accent colors, the designer custom hand printed a contemporary design on the same silk fabric then upholstered on the rope-over-solid brass side chairs. The same custom hand printed silk fabric was used in the dining room as well.
Ronald Piper, however, not wanting to overdo a good thing, used the hand printed silk totally on the host and hostess chairs, but on the four side chairs, used only the solid silk. This gave an extra special air of importance to the owners using the host and hostess chairs.
Above the sofa, encased in a lucite box, is an original Marvin Markman dimensional/sculptural piece of art.
Now that Marvin Markman had passed away, his art demands higher prices than those enormous prices that he had originally been tagged on his work.

| $1,200 Glass Mushroom Lamp Appraised At $28,000 |
On the two-tiered glass end table to the left of the sofa sits a hand blown clear vase, into which the very colors used in the design of the living room were blended. On the one-of-a-kind lacquered end table to the right of the sofa a purple-toned all glass mushroom lamp illuminates the entire corner.
The client was happy when Ronald Piper was able to acquire the lamp for them for the sum of $1200 dollars. The client was even more elated when the lamp was shown on television with an authentic value of $28,000.
