A Chef-Friendly, Practical And Aesthetic Kitchen
This client is in to cooking, big time. A chef-friendly kitchen was the answer.
Practical and aesthetic was the first choice for Corean countertops with a bull-nose edge. A Franke sink was placed in the corner of the L in order to maximize the counter space left and right. Full length base cabinet doors concealed storage and drawers. Beneath the cut-cornered beveled glass top table sat an original Anne Herbst interpretation of a cat finished in yellow faux stone.
Twist legged and framed chairs in white gloss lacquer with leather-padded seats added sophistication to the kitchen. Custom wallpaper and 3" bladed shutters put the final touches on this limited spaced apartment kitchen. |

Simplicity personified!
Black was the selection of choice by Ronald Piper A.S.I.D. Why not? The existing refrigerator, oven, dishwasher, transparent pleated window shades and phone were black. Black it was.
All upper and lower cabinets were finished in black oak. Juperana gold was selected as the granite choice. The counter top angularly offered large amounts of counter space, and then continued in a semi-circular fashion completing the bar of the the family room topped in the same granite (not shown).

This picked up the black tones mentioned above, as well as the area rug border, and the custom designed bamboo art work painted on a Venetian plaster adjacent wall (not shown).
The stainless steel of the undermounted sink, and the lower cabinet toe kicks, complimented the Florentined sink faucet, stove and unique cabinet handles.
